Tara creates abstract paintings that emulate the landscape using plaster,raw pigments,wax,ink and oil. Her palette has been called both “luscious” and” muddy-buroque”. The texture and reactions between the materials are as important as the resulting image.Her paintings reflect emotional experiences rather than specific places or times.
Costellos abstract landscape paintings are created layer by layer with conviction, her spontaneous mark making is an integral part of her painting process. She runs her own business creating specialized wall treatments and murals residential and commercially. Her profession has influenced her artwork and she has developed a unique approach to the materials she uses.
Tara has been exhibiting and selling her work in Minneapolis since 1996 and has been a member of Rosalux Gallery since 2002.
